Congratulations Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro!

Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro, President and Chief Instructor of the International Okinawa Shorin Ryu Seibukan Karate Association was presented a Distinguished Service Award by the Ryukyu Shinpo newspaper.  The Ryukyu Shinpo Newspaper present’s distinguished services awards every five years on the birthday of the company. This was the company’s 120th birthday. The awards were presented by Mr. Choichi Takamine President of the Ryukyu Shinpo newspaper.

The Distinguished Service awards were presented to:
Takenobu 9th dan Uechi-ryu Karate-do Shinkokai. Yoshio Hichiya 10th dan Okinawa Goju-ryu Tomarite Karate-do Association. Isao Shima 10th dan Okinawa Karate Kobudo Federation. Iken Tokashiki 10th dan Okinawa Goju-ryu Tomarite Karate-do Association. Zenpo Shimabukuro 10th Dan International Okinawa Shorin Ryu Seibukan Karate Association.

During the Distinguished Services award celebration it was announced by Isao Shima, President of Okinawa Karate Kobudo Federation that Zenpo Shimabukuro, International Okinawa Shorin Ryu Seibukan Karate Association and Minoru Higa, Kobayashi-ryu Kyudokan had been promoted to 10th Dan.

There will be a celebration party for the 10th Dan promotions on August 2nd 2008 at the Center Hotel in downtown Naha, Okinawa.

Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro has taught Seibukan Karate worldwide for over forty years. During this time Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro has spread Seibukan Karate to seventeen different countries. He has accomplish this with the highest physical, moral, and spiritual standards.

Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro holds positions in many Karate Organizations and Associations in Okinawa and worldwide.

Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro was accompanied to the award Ceremonies by his wife Michiko, their son Zenshun, and daughter in law Ayaka.

Okinawa Dento Karate-do Shinkokai

The four major Karate Organizations in Okinawa have unified under the newly formed Okinawa Dento Karate-do Shinkokai. Hanshi Shimabukuro has been named as one of the Board of Directors representing the Okinawa Karate-do Rengokai in this organization. There are six Board of Directors from each of the four major Karate Organizations sitting on the board. The purpose of this new organization is to promote Traditional Okinawan Karate-Do.

June 2009

Hanshi Shimabukuro will be demonstrating and conducting seminars at the AAU and WFC Championships in Orlando Florida.

August 2009

Okinawa Traditional Karatedo & Kobudo World Championships 2009 to be held August 14-16, 2009 in Okinawa, Japan.
